In 2024, more than 10 major international companies have established representative offices in Uzbekistan.
According to Dilnoza Sobirova, Head of the National Agency of Perspective Projects Press Service, this development has contributed over 160 billion UZS in tax revenue to the state budget. Additionally, the number of self-employed individuals in the e-commerce sector has increased by 55 percent.
To improve the regulatory framework for the regulation and development of e-commerce, the Agency has developed a draft resolution “On measures for the further development of e-commerce in the Republic of Uzbekistan”. Amendments and additions have been introduced to the Tax Code and the laws “On e-commerce” and “On licensing, permitting, and notification procedures”.
The resolution establishes that only legal entities that are residents of the Republic of Uzbekistan can operate as e-commerce service providers.
