
The 32nd Annual Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is currently taking place in Portugal.
The event brings together more than 200 parliamentarians from North America, Europe, and Central Asia.
Uzbekistan is represented by a delegation led by the First Deputy Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Sodiq Safoyev.

In her opening remarks, OSCE PA President Pia Kauma praised the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan and the country’s active participation in international events.
During a meeting with Roberto Montella, Secretary General of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Uzbekistan delegation exchanged views on prospects for further strengthening cooperation. Representatives of Uzbekistan also took part in a consultative meeting attended by Farah Karimi, the OSCE PA Special Representative for Central Asia.
Discussions included the establishment of a parliamentary group of Central Asian countries within the OSCE PA framework and the enhancement of regional dialogue.
In addition, the Uzbekistan delegation participated in a meeting of the Silk Road Group and proposed hosting an academic event in Uzbekistan. An agreement was reached to implement this initiative.
The OSCE PA session will continue until July 3.
