New benefit for working mothers: payments to be automatically assigned until their child turns one
No application or additional documents are required for the pension — the payment is processed automatically
A new mechanism to support working women during maternity is being introduced in Uzbekistan. According to the new system, working mothers will be paid a childcare allowance from the State Social Insurance Fund until their child reaches one year of age.
This new payment will be launched as a logical continuation of the state social insurance system introduced in 2026. It aims to provide financial support to working women even after pregnancy and childbirth, partially compensating for their temporary loss of income related to childcare.
One of the most important aspects of the new allowance is that mothers will not be required to visit various agencies, write a separate application, or collect additional documents to receive it. According to the National Agency for Social Protection, the allowance will be assigned automatically and proactively based on electronic data available in information systems.
Currently, maternity benefits are also being proactively assigned and paid by the State Social Insurance Fund. As a continuation of this same mechanism, it is planned to provide the childcare allowance without unnecessary bureaucracy for citizens.
Dilshodkhon Mukhitdinova, a chief specialist at the National Agency for Social Protection, noted that this innovation creates a number of important conveniences and guarantees for working women and their families. The Fund will provide financial support to women not only during pregnancy and maternity leave but also during the crucial and demanding first year of a baby's life.
This serves to compensate for the income the mother loses due to the temporary suspension of her employment.
As the Fund will directly assume responsibility for the childcare allowance, the financial obligations of enterprises and organizations will be significantly reduced. Releasing employers from this payment creates an additional incentive to hire women and keep their positions open. As a result, informal restrictions against women in labor relations will be prevented.
To formalize the allowance, citizens are not required to visit various offices, submit applications, or deal with paperwork. All processes will be carried out automatically without human intervention through integrated electronic databases.
Looking at the practical results achieved in this area, from January to August of this year, maternity benefits were paid to approximately 94,000 working women in our country from the Fund's resources. Once the new procedure is fully in effect, the same number of working mothers will be fully covered by an uninterrupted and guaranteed social protection system until their child turns one year old.
