New areas of cooperation in waste management

During his working visit, Sharifbek Hasanov, Director of the Waste Management and Circular Economy Development Agency, held a meeting with Casper Edmonds, Head of Manufacturing, Mining, and Energy Unit of the International Labour Organization, as well as with Dr. Moustapha Kamal Gueye, Director of the Priority Action Programme on Just Transitions Towards Environmentally Sustainable Economies and Societies at the International Labour Organization.

Issues of cooperation in waste management and the green and circular economy were discussed at the meeting. The parties agreed to create new jobs in the industry, support professional development, and broaden young people’s involvement in the field.

Cooperation in these areas helps implement the principles of the green economy more widely in Uzbekistan, train qualified personnel, ensure environmental sustainability, and improve the waste management system.
