Namangan and Italy sign mutually beneficial agreements
A delegation led by the Hokim of Namangan region and member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Shavkat Abdurazzakov, comprising representatives of the investment sector and entrepreneurs, visited Italy.
A key event of the visit was a meeting organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan with Michele de Pascale, President of the Emilia-Romagna Region. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in industry, textiles, and manufacturing, emphasizing that producing high-value-added goods would be central to their long-term partnership. The talks resulted in agreements to develop interregional ties, exchange visits, and attract Italian investment to Namangan region.

Bilateral business forums were held in Bologna and Rome to establish direct contacts with Italian businesses.

Executives from more than 100 leading companies took part in the negotiations, which included a series of B2B meetings. Opportunities for cooperation in agriculture, mechanical engineering, textiles and logistics were explored. Agreements were signed to help Uzbekistan companies enter the Italian market, expand exports, and establish joint production facilities.

Agreements with major Italian companies and industry associations supported the package of investment and export contracts. In particular, agreements were signed with SMI Group, Gamma Meccanica, Bonifiche Ferraresi and Vinarjia Marko in agricultural processing, industrial manufacturing and intensive horticulture.

Particular attention was paid to organized labor migration. A project to recruit Uzbekistan specialists for seasonal agricultural work in Italy has been launched. Arrangements were made to receive the first group of 40 Uzbek citizens, and the regional governor personally inspected their living and working conditions. During talks with Salvi, an agreement was reached to employ another 1,000 Uzbekistan citizens in the coming years.

In addition, meetings with officials from Italy’s Ministry for Regional Affairs and Autonomies and FAO focused on launching grant-funded projects for orchard modernization, drip irrigation, aquaculture and farming.
