More than 300 participants to discuss labor migration issues at an international forum in Tashkent
An international forum on “Social and legal protection of labor migrants and their family members” will be held in Tashkent on May 18-19, 2026. The event is expected to draw more than 300 participants, including representatives of international organizations, government agencies, business, the expert community, and the media.
The forum is organized by the Migration Agency of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the International Organization for Migration.
The forum will feature plenary sessions and thematic panel discussions featuring international experts. The main focus will be on labor migration, recognition of qualifications, the gender agenda, the role of youth, and the impact of climate change on migration.
In addition, the program includes B2B, B2G, and G2G meetings, a press conference for local and foreign media, and the signing of new cooperation agreements.
Participants will include representatives of the UN system, relevant ministries and agencies, employers from European and Asian countries, civil society representatives, think tanks, and the media.
According to the organizers, the key topic of discussion will be the formation of safe, orderly, and regular migration as a factor in sustainable socio-economic development.
The forum will serve as a platform for exchanging international experience, discussing current challenges in migration, and developing joint solutions to protect the rights of labor migrants and their family members.
