Migration situation discussed
The second meeting of the Uzbekistan – Russia Interdepartmental Working Group on Migration took place at the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Official delegations from relevant ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan and Russia participated in the event. The meeting was co-chaired by Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prosecutor General Dilmurod Kasimov and Russia’s Deputy Prosecutor General Petr Gorodov.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of migration and several problematic issues that require a joint approach and coordinated efforts. Special focus was placed on developing comprehensive measures to ensure legal compliance in the migration sector, taking into account the interests of both countries.

Among the key topics were protecting the rights of foreign citizens under national law, ensuring that citizens living in Russia comply with labor regulations, combating extremism and terrorism in migration contexts, expanding legal and contractual frameworks, and developing bilateral cooperation. The discussion also included the issue of information sharing to increase transparency in migration procedures and improve conditions for labor migrants.

The meeting participants stressed the need to strengthen bilateral relations and improve coordination between the two countries’ government agencies.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their intention to intensify supervision and control over the observance of the rights of citizens of Uzbekistan and Russia engaged in labor activities in the territories of both countries.
