Meeting with the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan

A meeting was held between Z. Nizomkhojayev, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Mohammad Monirul Islam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan. This was reported by the Central Election Commission.

During the meeting, organized at the initiative of the Embassy of Bangladesh, the parties discussed bilateral cooperation in the organization and conduct of elections and reviewed prospects for further interaction between the electoral authorities.

Z. Nizomkhojayev expressed gratitude to the Ambassador of Bangladesh for his interest in strengthening bilateral ties.

During the conversation, the guest was provided with detailed information about the activities of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the national electoral system, the principles of conducting elections and referendums, as well as the introduction of modern information technologies into the electoral process.

Special attention was paid to ensuring openness, transparency, and legality of elections, as well as to the practice of international observation.

During the meeting, the Ambassador of Bangladesh provided information about the upcoming parliamentary elections and referendum scheduled for February 12 this year. The diplomat emphasized the importance of exchanging experience between the two countries’ electoral bodies.
