First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Nematov met with the Secretary General of the Hague Conference on Private International Law Christophe Bernasconi.

On December 20, 2019, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Nematov met with the Secretary General of the Hague Conference on Private International Law Christophe Bernasconi, who arrived in Uzbekistan as an international observer for the elections on December 22 to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and Local Councils, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

Christophe Bernasconi was informed in detail about new foreign policy of the country, innovations introduced in Uzbekistan to democratize the electoral process, including, on organization of early voting at the location of Uzbekistan citizens abroad, increase the role of election observers.

The sides also discussed issues related to the upcoming membership of Uzbekistan in the Hague Conference on Private International Law and prospects of Uzbekistan's participation in the conventions adopted within the framework of this organization.
