Meeting of Uzbekistan and Malaysia businessmen
On November 1, 2018, the Embassy of Malaysia in Uzbekistan together with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) organized Uzbekistan – Malaysia business forum and B2B meeting with participation of business circles of the two countries, in Tashkent.
On November 1, 2018, the Embassy of Malaysia in Uzbekistan together with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) organized Uzbekistan – Malaysia business forum and B2B meeting with participation of business circles of the two countries, in Tashkent.
The event was attended by the heads of diplomatic missions of both countries, representatives of a number of ministries and agencies of the country, as well as 12 Malaysian and 70 Uzbekistan companies.
Within the framework of the business meeting, issues of developing partnership between the business circles of the two countries were discussed.
Representatives of the Malaysian business praised the reforms undertaken by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on liberalizing and diversifying the country’s economy and expressed great interest in further strengthening cooperation with Uzbekistan, in particular by organizing export deliveries of fruits and vegetables to Malaysia and implementing promising investment projects.
It should be noted that in January-September 2018, exports of products from Uzbekistan to Malaysia increased by 2.7 times compared with the same period of the previous year. Currently, 16 enterprises with Malaysian capital are registered in Uzbekistan.
Following the business forum, agreements were reached on opening a representative office of Uzbekistan company in Malaysia for exporting products, establishing Uzbekistan – Malaysia joint venture in Tashkent region on production of building materials, considering the possibility of implementing an investment project on organizing production of juice and special additives in the food industry, on shooting a film in Bukhara and Khorezm regions until the end of 2019, on signing a cooperation agreement on rendering joint logistics services and the sale of containers to the Malaysian side for the carriage of cargo, as well as organizing the next business mission of Malaysian business circles to Uzbekistan led by MATRADE managers in the first half of 2019.
