Mechanisms to protect the population from risks will be improved

Developing a social protection system aligned with modern standards is crucial for protecting citizens’ interests. Considerable focus is given to analyzing international best practices and integrating them into the national framework.

These and other issues were discussed at a meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan and a UNICEF delegation.

The development approaches for Uzbekistan’s Adaptive Social Protection Strategy, focused on enhancing citizen support measures, were discussed, considering climatic, natural, and economic risks.

The parties explored methods to boost household resilience to external challenges, enhance the rapid delivery of social assistance, and address issues related to interagency cooperation.

Additional steps have been outlined to prepare the project, including consultations with relevant organizations, review of international practices, and identification of Uzbekistan’s most critical emergency, natural, and climate threats.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue joint efforts on the draft strategy and to ensure the consistent implementation of adaptive social protection mechanisms.
