On July 4, on the sidelines of the Economic Cooperation Organization Summit in the city of Khankendi, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif.

The meeting focused on current issues related to further expansion and strengthening of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan based on the adopted roadmap.

The active contacts at various levels were noted with satisfaction. The volume of mutual trade, the number of joint ventures, and direct air flights are increasing. Trade houses have been established in Karachi and Lahore.

Particular attention was given to accelerating projects and cooperation programs in the trade-economic, investment, and transport-communication spheres, including the advancement of the Trans-Afghan Railway construction.

The importance of effectively holding the scheduled Intergovernmental Commission meeting and business forum this year was emphasized.

The leaders of Uzbekistan and Pakistan also exchanged views on international and regional issues.
