
During a telephone conversation held on April 26, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, discussed further strengthening friendship, strategic partnership, and alliance between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
The discussions focused on the practical implementation of the agreements reached following the state visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan in August last year.
Particular satisfaction was expressed with the productive efforts being carried out within the framework of the Year of Economic Cooperation. Trade turnover has increased by 20 percent since the beginning of the year. Projects are actively progressing in the automotive, textile, electrical engineering, energy, agriculture, tourism, and other sectors.
A rich program of cultural and humanitarian exchanges is being jointly implemented.
The importance of thorough preparation for the high-level summits planned for this year was emphasized, including the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, regional and rectors’ forums, and cultural events.
The leaders also exchanged views on the regional agenda and reviewed the schedule of upcoming multilateral events, including those within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States.
