Labeling issues discussed
Chairman of the Tax Committee, Farrukh Pulatov, met with Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Ekaterina Priezdeva, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies, Mikhail Dubin.
The parties discussed issues related to expanding cooperation in the digital labeling of goods. The Russian side highly appreciated the results of the reforms implemented in Uzbekistan to introduce a digital labeling system and noted that the achieved results are important for the entire region. It was emphasized that the initiative to expand the list of goods subject to labeling is supported not only by government agencies, but also by business representatives interested in protecting products from counterfeiting.

During the negotiations, an initiative was put forward to develop and sign a single document to simplify and unify the mechanisms for mutual recognition of labeling codes for goods subject to mandatory labeling in Russia and Uzbekistan. The adoption of such a document will enable the replacement of the current system of disparate agreements that require lengthy interdepartmental approvals, ensure the establishment of uniform rules of interaction, accelerate decision-making, and increase the system’s effectiveness.

During the meeting, representatives of the Tax Committee informed about measures taken in Uzbekistan to consistently modernize the tax system, create a transparent and sustainable economic environment, create favorable business conditions, and combat the shadow economy.
The parties agreed to maintain an open dialogue and strengthen cooperation on digital labeling of goods.
