Within the framework of the Rapid Response Program in countering the negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic in Uzbekistan, KOICA is supporting procurement through the UNOPS to deliver vital medical equipment and supplies to Uzbekistan in the fight against pandemic COVID-19.
On March 24, the first batch of medical equipment and supplies from the KOICA agency will arrive at the International Airport named after Islam Karimov, in Tashkent, to assist the government of Uzbekistan in combating the consequences of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It includes important digital immunoassay analyzers, RT-PCR systems, and COVID-19 test kits.
This cargo will be sent to the Republican Specialized Research Medical Center for Phthisiology and Pulmonology in Tashkent and the Medical Clinic of the Medical Institute in Nukus of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

The above medical equipment and materials are provided within the framework of the Rapid Response Program in countering the negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic in Uzbekistan for a total amount of US $3.2 million, implemented by the UNOPS with the gratuitous assistance of the KOICA, in partnership with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Over the next five months, additional medical equipment and consumables will be purchased and delivered to the country’s medical institutions, including PCR analyzers, ELISA digital immunoassay analyzers and their reagents, equipment for express testing and screening, as well as personal protective equipment kits. These items are also intended to strengthen the country’s health system in the long term by improving the diagnostic and epidemiological capacity of various laboratories and strengthening national capacity for the early detection of COVID-19 cases and other infectious diseases.

It is planned to cooperate with medical institutions to ensure the assembly and calibration of equipment, depending on the circumstances, as well as the passage of the necessary training for medical and technical personnel.
