Khiva Declaration has been adopted
Khiva hosted a plenary session of the Fourth Uzbekistan – Belarus Interparliamentary Forum “Strategic Partnership: Development of Interparliamentary Dialogue, New Challenges and Prospects for Cooperation”.
Welcoming messages from Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Alexander Lukashenko were read at the opening of the meeting, which brought together members of the two countries’ parliaments, regional representatives, business leaders, and members of the public.
Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva and Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalia Kochanova stressed that relations between the two countries are based on mutual respect, trust, and mutual interest.
In July, during the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s official visit to Belarus, the two sides signed a Declaration on Strategic Partnership.
The participants considered implementing joint projects in mechanical engineering, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, electrical engineering, and the textile and furniture industries. Special emphasis was placed on the interregional partnership between Andijan and Vitebsk regions. As part of this cooperation, businesspeople are actively establishing direct contacts, and joint production and social initiatives are being developed.
The business forums for women entrepreneurs from Uzbekistan and Belarus, held in Minsk, Tashkent, and Vitebsk, received a positive assessment. The need to expand cooperation among women entrepreneurs and involve them in joint projects was emphasized.
The importance of timely implementation of the agreements and prompt resolution of emerging issues was emphasized. Parliamentary oversight plays a key role in this process, enabling the identification of systemic issues and refining the legislative framework.
Following the event, the Khiva Declaration was adopted, outlining practical steps to enrich the strategic partnership with new content and to expand interregional cooperation.
