Kamal Jafarov: “The alliance between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan is a key factor shaping the region’s future”
The recent strengthening of allied relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan significantly influences the growth of economic, transport, and political connections between the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
Kamal Jafarov, Member of the Azerbaijan Parliament, emphasizes that the alliance between Baku and Tashkent is a crucial pillar for the region’s economic growth.
In his opinion, moving the relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan to a higher stage is the logical result of the historical, cultural and political proximity of the two states.
“The activities of the Supreme Interstate Council, as an active institutional mechanism, and systematic mutual visits indicate the high level of political engagement. The mutual complementation of the two states’ economic potential further stabilizes our cooperation”, Kamal Jafarov noted.
The MP notes that increased collaboration between Baku and Tashkent aims to enhance the region’s transport and logistics infrastructure. Integrating the China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan railway with the Middle Corridor opens new Eurasian transportation routes. Cooperation in green energy is also a key part of this initiative.
The importance of cultural and humanitarian ties between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan was also emphasized.
Kamal Jafarov stated that Uzbekistan’s support for reconstructing liberated areas, expanding educational and cultural exchanges, and carrying out joint humanitarian initiatives creates strong bonds. This cooperation also helps enhance the overall capacity of the Organization of Turkic States.
Mutual support on international platforms, attention to the unity of the Turkic world, and the strategic partnership between the two states indicate a long-term foundation.
