Javokhir Sindarov wins the FIDE Candidates Tournament ahead of schedule

In the 13th round of the FIDE Candidates Tournament in Cyprus, Javokhir Sindarov, playing with the black pieces, drew with Anish Giri of the Netherlands and won the tournament ahead of schedule.

Now, Javokhir Sindarov will compete for the chess crown against the reigning world champion, Gukesh Dommaraju.

Even though the final 14th round has yet to be held, J. Sindarov’s premature victory was a historic achievement.
