Issues related to ensuring nuclear safety are under discussion
Today, the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, ensuring nuclear and radiation safety, and the development of international cooperation are of great importance.
This was discussed at a meeting in Vienna during the 70th Session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency between the head of the Uzbekistan delegation, Director of Uzatom Agency Azim Akhmedkhodjayev, and the IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.
The parties discussed ongoing activities in Uzbekistan related to nuclear energy development. They reviewed future plans and emphasized the importance of enhancing nuclear and radiation safety. Additionally, they examined the potential applications of nuclear technologies for peaceful purposes.
Following the meeting, the parties emphasized the need to expand technical cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IAEA, study international best practices, and strengthen bilateral cooperation.
