International acknowledgment affirms the country’s increasing influence
During the Senate’s plenary session, emphasis was placed on interparliamentary cooperation and parliamentary diplomacy.
Recently, the Uzbekistan delegation actively participated in the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly in Saint Petersburg. 2026 is designated as the Year of Health Protection in the CIS, and Uzbekistan chairs the Council for Cooperation in Healthcare of the Commonwealth this year.

As part of the summit, partner states highly praised the large-scale reforms underway in Uzbekistan to improve the healthcare system and protect public health. Several important initiatives were proposed to deepen cooperation in this area and make effective use of existing potential.
“The dialogue held during the official visit to Serbia, including the meeting with President Aleksandar Vučić, strengthened bilateral relations”, said Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbayeva. “President Aleksandar Vučić highly praised the reforms underway in Uzbekistan under the leadership of the Head of State. This further confirmed Uzbekistan’s growing authority in the international arena. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on interparliamentary cooperation between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia will help strengthen the partnership and give it new practical substance”.

At the Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Belgrade, information was presented on Uzbekistan’s achievements and best practices in advancing gender equality, supporting women, and expanding their participation in state and public administration. Important initiatives were proposed to strengthen international cooperation in these areas, including the introduction of effective legislative mechanisms to eradicate gender stereotypes. These initiatives and gender reforms received high praise and broad support from the international community.
The delegation of Uzbekistan also actively participated in events in Geneva as part of the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference of the International Labour Organization (ILO). Agreements were reached between Uzbekistan and the ILO to promote international labor standards, ratify new international conventions, and expand expert and technical cooperation. The signing of the Decent Work Country Programme for 2026-2030 was agreed upon.
Agreements were also reached with representatives of Better Cotton and Better Work to expand cooperation to enhance the country’s attractiveness to international brands and investors.
