The French Embassy in Uzbekistan held a press conference on establishing the France – Uzbekistan Economic Chamber in Tashkent.

“The creation of France – Uzbekistan Economic Chamber reflects the dynamics of relations between the two countries and will also allow us to respond to the needs of French and Uzbek businessmen, who are our representatives in these economic relations”, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Uzbekistan Ms. Aurelia Bouchez noted at the meeting.

The goal of the Economic Chamber is to support French business in Uzbekistan, as well as Uzbekistan companies wishing to develop relations with French partners operating in Uzbekistan or France.

Ms. Aurelia Bouchez emphasized that the establishment of the France – Uzbekistan Economic Chamber was announced in Samarkand by the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Ambassador Aurelia Bouchez noted that bilateral trade and economic relations between France and Uzbekistan are developing steadily. Over the past 5 years, the trade turnover has tripled. And in the first 8 months of 2023, this figure reached 412 million euros.

2022 was a record year in the history of France – Uzbekistan economic relations. As a result, French exports amounted to 241 million euros, and imports from Uzbekistan reached 136 million euros, almost 40 percent more than in 2021.

Forecasts for French exports for 2023 exceed 350 million euros. Its main components are vehicles, chemicals, cosmetics, food products, and other types.

This level of development of bilateral economic relations, as noted by Aurelia Bouchez, requires a new stage in organizing our economic structures, and the creation of the France – Uzbekistan Economic Chamber meets these new needs.
