Tashkent hosted the Second Forum of Regions of Uzbekistan and Belarus.

The delegations were led by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjayev, and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Leonid Zayats. The forum was attended by more than 300 heads of ministries, agencies, industry associations, chambers of commerce and industry, regional administrations, and representatives of the two countries’ business communities.

Speakers noted the stable growth dynamics of bilateral trade in recent years. At the same time, the presence of huge untapped potential of the two countries’ economies was emphasized, allowing them to fulfill the tasks of increasing the trade turnover.

The Sales Manager of the Export Department of the Spartak confectionery factory, Dmitry Voitko, notes that he is happy to attend this forum. This event promotes the products of the Republic of Belarus on the Uzbekistan market, especially since they are very competitive in price.

“We have been working with Uzbekistan since 2014 and are observing a positive trend: sales are increasing, and the population of Uzbekistan likes our products”, he says.

Currently, more than 20 contracts and agreements worth $80 million have been concluded.

The forum program includes several panel sessions dedicated to cooperation in agriculture and the food industry, investment activities and industrial cooperation, sports, tourism, healthcare, and youth policy.

The First Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan was held in Minsk in 2019. Then, 26 direct agreements between regions were signed in two days, and more than 20 commercial contracts were launched. More than 1,000 people took part in the forum events.
