
The Law “On Food Security” has been adopted.
This law regulates relations in food safety and aims to ensure the population’s access to nutritionally valuable products, develop effective market mechanisms, and support the production of food products and raw materials.
The Cabinet of Ministers is responsible for implementing a unified state policy on food security and determining urgent measures to address food shortages in Uzbekistan when necessary.
The Ministry of Agriculture is the authorized state body responsible for food security.
State support in this area aims to meet the population’s needs for essential socially significant food products by producing local food products and raw materials.
Food consumption standards will be reviewed every three years based on the country’s demographic, social, and economic indicators.
The law will come into force six months after its official publication.
