First Lady of Uzbekistan visits Serbian cultural sites

During the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Serbia, the First Lady of Uzbekistan Ziroat Mirziyoyeva visited several cultural sites in Belgrade, accompanied by the First Lady of Serbia Tamara Vučić.

The program began at the National Museum of Serbia, where the First Ladies explored the museum’s collection, including archaeological artifacts linked to the nation’s history and artworks from both Serbian and international artists. They also visited the “Etno-mreža” exhibition showcasing traditional crafts.

Particular attention was paid to one of the country’s most important national treasures – the Miroslav Gospel, the oldest surviving monument of Serbian Cyrillic literacy. This unique 12th-century manuscript is of exceptional artistic value and is richly illustrated with miniatures. In 2005, the Miroslav Gospel was inscribed on the UNESCO Memory of the World Register. 

The First Ladies visited the Church of Saint Sava, one of the world’s largest Orthodox churches and a major spiritual symbol of Serbia. 

In a warm conversation, Ziroat Mirziyoyeva and Tamara Vučić emphasized the importance of strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties between Uzbekistan and Serbia.
