First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation visits the Assumption Cathedral in Tashkent
A delegation led by Sergei Kiriyenko, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation, visited the Saint-Uspensky Sobor (Assumption Cathedral) of the Russian Orthodox Church in Tashkent.
In Uzbekistan, where representatives of different nations and faiths have lived in peace and harmony since ancient times, the concepts of religious tolerance and interethnic harmony are enshrined at the state level.
Today, all conditions have been created in Uzbekistan for the vigorous activity of more than 150 national cultural centers and over 2,300 religious organizations across 16 denominations, including the Russian Orthodox Church.
The Saint-Uspensky Sobor is considered the central temple of the Tashkent and Uzbekistan Diocese, as well as the Central Asian Metropolitan Area.
The Spiritual and Administrative Center of the Tashkent and Uzbekistan Diocese and the Tashkent Theological Seminary are located on the temple’s grounds.
During the visit, the head of the delegation met with the Metropolitan Vikenty of Tashkent and Uzbekistan, the Head of the Central Asian Metropolitan District.
