Eurasia Magazine has published an article on reforms to protect children’s rights in Uzbekistan.
The article highlights the country’s active and consistent position to strengthen the legal and institutional framework for ensuring every child’s well-being.
Uzbekistan joined the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1992 and ratified it in 1994. Since then, the country has been steadily implementing comprehensive measures to create a safe and supportive environment for the younger generation.
The article’s authors focus on the Law “On the Protection of Children from all Forms of Violence”, which entered into force on May 15, 2025, and is called a turning point in the development of the child protection system in Uzbekistan. The document has significantly expanded the range of responsible subjects – now educational, medical, law enforcement, and self-government institutions have been added to parents and guardianship authorities.
The law also provides for the creation of specialized assistance and rehabilitation centers for children affected by violence, the introduction of educational programs to foster a culture of respect for children’s rights, as well as systematic professional development for professionals working with minors.
The article emphasizes that the measures taken not only strengthen the protection mechanisms, but also organically integrate them into the socio-cultural and moral contexts of society. According to Eurasia Magazine, this is a significant step towards a future where every child will not only be protected, but also recognized as a full participant in public life.
