Uzbek National Academic Drama Theatre hosts Debut 2018 young director’s republican contest.

At the opening ceremony, it was noted that the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures for further development and improvement of the sphere of culture and art” of May 31, 2017, which marked the beginning of a new stage in development of the sphere, is important for identifying talented youth and helping them to create stage performances glorifying national and universal values.

The competition, organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Theatrical Figures Union, will show performances staged by debutants from Tashkent and all regions of Uzbekistan.

The festival, which was held for the first time in 2005, became the first professional stage for many playwrights, directors, actors and theater artists, who are working productively in theaters of Uzbekistan. Stage performances of historical, modern, fairy-tale themes of 17 young directors will be considered at the festival-competition.

The festival began with “White ship” performance of Kashkadarya regional Musical Drama Theater named after Mullatuychi Tashmukhamedov, based on Chingiz Aytmatov’s work.
