Director of the Cultural Heritage Agency under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports Shakhriyor Nurulloyev held virtual talks with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Uzbekistan Agostino Pinna, Cultural Heritage Agency reports.

Mr. Shakhriyor Nurulloyev informed the Ambassador about the goals and activities of the Cultural Heritage Agency, as well as about cultural heritage sites in the country.

Ambassador Agostino Pinna noted that he has always admired the rich cultural heritage and past of Uzbekistan, and he is interested in strengthening cooperation between the two countries in this direction. He acknowledged that the monuments included in the UNESCO World Heritage List made a special impression on him.

The Ambassador also noted that in 2021, members of the Italian Association Asso Restavro visited Uzbekistan and got acquainted with cultural heritage sites in Samarkand. It was proposed to hold a Restoration Week in Samarkand in October 2021 with the participation of 15 leading Italian restorers and architects to strengthen cooperation between Uzbekistan and Italy in the restoration. Agostino Pinna expressed his desire to continue the projects launched by the new leadership of the Agency.

According to the Cultural Heritage Agency, the parties agreed to strengthen collaboration between the two countries in the field of museums, restoration and cultural heritage.
