Cooperation projects with JICA under discussion
Within the framework of the Fifth Tashkent International Investment Forum, the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The negotiations were attended by the Senior Vice President of JICA Yoshikawa Yoshifumi, the Deputy Minister of Transport Ilhomjon Abdugafarov, and the Chairman of the Committee for Roads Jamshid Tursunov.

The parties discussed in detail the progress of infrastructure projects implemented with JICA’s assistance, the pace of work, and future priorities. The construction of a tunnel connecting Samarkand and Kashkadarya regions, the reconstruction of 37 kilometers of highways and four bridges in Samarkand region, as well as the modernization of 45 kilometers of road network in Andijan region became one of the key topics.

The participants noted that special attention should be paid to environmental protection and environmental sustainability in the implementation of infrastructure projects. It is important to apply the most efficient and modern engineering solutions.
Proposals to study the Japanese experience and to organize advanced training programs on a grant basis for specialists in the road industry to strengthen their professional, scientific, and practical potential were considered.
The parties agreed to develop additional measures to ensure timely, high-quality fulfillment of the tasks and to strengthen cooperation in the development of transport infrastructure.
