Chairman of the Customs Committee meets with the WCO Secretary General

The World Customs Organization Technology Conference is being held in Abu Dhabi (UAE) this week.

A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Chairman of the Customs Committee Akmalkhuja Mavlonov, is actively participating in this significant event.

The conference focuses primarily on accelerating technological progress in customs authorities. Participants are studying international experience in the application of digital and innovative solutions and discussing their integration into national practice.

On the first day of the conference, the Chairman of the Customs Committee, Mr. Mavlonov, met with WCO Secretary General Ian Saunders.

The parties discussed issues related to developing cooperation between Uzbekistan and the World Customs Organization, in particular, enhancing the professional capacity of specialists in the sector and organizing joint training events.

Mr. Mavlonov expressed his gratitude to the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization for the decision to hold the 7th WCO Global Canine Forum in Uzbekistan this year, noting that this decision represents international recognition of the activities of the National Canine Center of the Customs Committee.

The parties also considered granting the Customs Institute the status of a WCO Regional Training Center.

For his significant contribution to the development of cooperation with the World Customs Organization, Secretary General Ian Saunders was awarded the newly established badge of honor “For International Cooperation” by the Customs Committee.
