Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan Zayniddin Nizomkhodjayev got acquainted with the work being carried out in Namangan region in preparation for the elections of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and local Councils of People’s Deputies.
He took part in a training workshop at the Turan International University to improve the qualifications of the chairman, deputies, and secretaries of precinct election commissions. During the dialogue with regional trainers and listeners, the need for effective preparation and organization of elections at a high level, vast propaganda of the essence and significance of the amendments made to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and legislation related to the electoral process was emphasized.
The Davlatabad District Culture House hosted a meeting with representatives of the intelligentsia, mahalla activists, and young people who will participate in the elections for the first time.
As noted at the event, for the first time in the history of our independent country, a comprehensive legal document covering all legal norms related to elections – the Election Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan was adopted. Based on this document, deputies of the lower house of the Oliy Majlis and local Councils are elected by voting on the universal, equal, direct suffrage principle.
The features of the majoritarian-proportional – mixed electoral system, which contributes to raising the legal awareness of voters and their social and political activity, were also discussed.
Fiction books were presented to active youth. Chairman of the Central Election Commission Zayniddin Nizomkhodjayev also visited the territorial election commission of Namangan region, located in Davlatabad district, and talked with its members and representatives of the press center.
