“Cambridge and the Agency for the Promotion of Foreign Language Learning (LPA) in Uzbekistan partner to deliver Linguaskill tests and learning resources across the country”, writes the Cambridge University in an article “Building English language skills across Uzbekistan”.

The article also focuses on the reforms in the education system of Uzbekistan, including the positive changes in the curriculum and test system.

“Cambridge Partnership for Education and LPA signed a Memorandum of Understanding in September 2021 to explore collaboration around English language teacher training, assessment, and learning materials” is noted in the article. – Since then, Cambridge and LPA have worked together on an agreement to deliver Linguaskill, one of the tests the government has approved to demonstrate English language skills in Uzbekistan. 

The author also quotes Azimjon Khusanov, Deputy Director, Agency for Promoting Foreign Language Learning (LPA). The expert notes that the partnership will help more people gain higher quality English skills in Uzbekistan. Until now, we have only used grammar-based tests for English in Uzbekistan for entrance exams, and these lack international focus. 

“Before, English language books had no interactive materials and extra resources, but things have improved recently with the introduction of books such as Cambridge’s Guess What and Prepare series to schools”, says Azimjon Khusanov. – Through partnership with Cambridge we’re introducing Linguaskill – a test that better reflects new ways of learning and working and is fit for the future.

The article also provides detailed information on the promotion of teachers in the country, the allocation of additional funds based on their level of education, the establishment of various scholarships.

“If a teacher in Uzbekistan can demonstrate C1 level English, they are eligible for a 50% salary increase. There are also benefits for reaching B2 level up to 40%. The government has developed a list of approved tests to demonstrate language skills, and teachers can apply for costs to cover these” notes the author.
