An exhibition dedicated to the history and culture of Afghanistan opens in Doha

Chairperson of the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan, Gayane Umerova, took part in the opening of the Empire of Light exhibition in Doha, dedicated to Afghanistan’s history and culture over more than 5,000 years.

The Chairperson conveyed congratulations to the partners – Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and the Aga Khan Trust for Culture – on the occasion of the exhibition’s opening.

The exhibition presents Afghanistan as a cultural center where civilizations, religions, and traditions have intersected for centuries, shaping the region’s unique heritage and underscoring the importance of its preservation today. A separate section of the exhibition is devoted to the artistic flourishing of the Timurid era, featuring illustrated manuscripts and works of book art from the 15th century that reflect the development of miniature painting, calligraphy, and the court culture of Herat during that period.
