The latest official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Türkiye on January 29 this year marked an important step toward further developing a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Ilhom Khaydarov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Türkiye, shared his views:
– The official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Türkiye is of historic significance. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan personally arrived at the airport to welcome the President of Uzbekistan. The fact that the leaders’ dialogue began directly at the airport clearly demonstrates the high level of bilateral cooperation.
The leaders of the two countries outlined several priority tasks for their ministers. In particular, cooperation in economic diplomacy will be further strengthened. Turkish investors are actively involved in implementing major projects in Uzbekistan. Thus, in 2026 alone, it is planned to utilize more than 3 billion dollars in foreign investment. While investments were previously mainly directed to traditional sectors, Turkish investors are now also showing interest in the high-tech sectors of the economy.
On January 15 this year, a videoconference meeting chaired by Uzbekistan’s President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, was held to address issues related to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its diplomatic missions abroad. Based on the objectives set during the meeting, we took all necessary measures to ensure that the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Türkiye was conducted at the highest level.
