
During the visit of an Uzbekistan delegation to Moscow, led by Abdulaziz Kamilov, Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan, a roundtable discussion on “Central Asia and Russia: Strategic Cooperation in a Changing World” was held.
The event, organized in cooperation with IMEMO RAS, brought together leading experts and analysts from both countries.
Participants exchanged views on key aspects of cooperation between Central Asian countries and Russia amid global transformations.
Special attention was given to strengthening cooperation within the “Central Asia – Russia” format to deepen regional collaboration in economics, security, environmental protection, and culture.
Opening the event, Alexander Dynkin, President of IMEMO, emphasized that the political wisdom and leadership of the President of Uzbekistan have played a decisive role in redefining the regional context. According to the academician, thanks to the good-neighborly policy pursued under the leadership of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Central Asia is now the most prosperous and stable region in Eurasia.
In his welcoming speech, Abdulaziz Kamilov, Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan, highlighted that the close interaction between Central Asian countries and Russia is rooted in historical ties and shared cultural values.
Javlon Vakhabov, Director of the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA), noted that the existing foundation and accumulated interstate cooperation experience can effectively promote the “Central Asia – Russia” format.
Following the event, participants agreed to continue the expert dialogue to develop specific proposals to strengthen strategic cooperation between the countries of the region and Russia.
