A new destination for mountain tourism
A large-scale project is underway to build a modern complex for mining, ecological, and scientific tourism at the Maydanak high-altitude tourist center in Kashkadarya region’s Qamashi district, at 2,750 meters above sea level.
In accordance with the Presidential resolution of November 28, 2023, on measures to develop tourism and sports in the mountainous and foothill areas of Kashkadarya region and to create modern infrastructure, a 58.6-hectare tourist facility complex is being built in Maydanak.
Various residential facilities have been built for guests, including Scandinavian-style wooden cottages, modern 'A'-shaped houses, and modular capsules under the Maydanak brand, all harmoniously integrated with the mountain scenery.
The tourist center features recreation and entertainment zones. It already operates a rope park suitable for both children and adults, which is a sports and entertainment complex with obstacle courses at height, such as ropes, bridges, and other elements.
A key attraction in Maydanak is its scientific tourism opportunity. An observatory, equipped with two large and two small telescopes, has been set up in a renovated area dedicated to astronomy lovers. This observatory is surrounded by juniper forests spanning 7,900 hectares, which also host yurts.
The growth of tourist infrastructure offers the local community extra income opportunities, with residents offering services and arranging excursions for visitors.
The fresh air, scenic landscapes, and starry night sky enhance Maydanak’s potential for ecological and scientific tourism.
Construction and landscaping work are underway at the tourist center today. The plan includes opening a restaurant, cafe, gyms, and other amenities.
The infrastructure being developed will support the growth of mountain tourism, enable the use of the area’s medical and scientific resources, and enhance the tourist appeal of Qamashi district.
