January 30 – birthday of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

This date is widely celebrated throughout the country in accordance with the resolution of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev “On celebration of the 80th anniversary of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, outstanding statesman and politician Islam Karimov’s birth” of November 27, 2017.

The event, dedicated to the veneration of memory of the First President Islam Karimov began in Samarkand from the early morning, where he was born and raised. 

Representatives of general public, guests from different regions of the country gathered in the park near Registan Square, where the monument to the First President was erected. 

Flowers were laid to the monument on behalf of administration and people of Samarkand region, as well as state and public organizations. 

The event was also attended by guests from other regions of the Republic along with local population of the region. 

- The First President of our country has created all conditions and opportunities for young people, and devoted his entire life to this affair, - says student of Urgench State University, owner of the scholarship of Foundation named after Islam Karimov A.Ismoilov. – Islam Karimov made an invaluable contribution to our success. In response to this, we will try to achieve more success in our study and work, make a worthy contribution to further prosperity of our Motherland.

Commemoration gathering was also organized within the framework of the event for general public and guests of Samarkand.

The event was also attended by the khokim (governor) of Samarkand region T.Djurayev.
