Press conference dedicated to the World Taekwondo Championships
From April 12 to 17, the World Taekwondo Junior Championships will take place at the Olympic City.
A press conference dedicated to the upcoming tournament was held at the Museum of Olympic and Paralympic Glory. Attendees included Adham Ikramov, Minister of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chungwon Choue, President of the World Taekwondo Federation, and Sherzod Toshmatov, Chairman of the Taekwondo Association of Uzbekistan, along with representatives of the sports community and the media.
At the press conference, it was announced that several important events will be held as part of the world championship, including a meeting of the Council of the World Taekwondo Federation and the General Assembly. The opening ceremony is scheduled for April 12, and the Olympism and Peace Forum will take place on April 13.
A total of 990 athletes from 118 countries will take part in the competitions. Medals will be awarded in 20 weight categories.
Speaking at the event, Adham Ikramov, Minister of Sports, emphasized that the experience gained in the country in organizing high-level international sporting events, as well as the modern sports infrastructure meeting international standards, contribute to increasing confidence in Uzbekistan as a venue for competitions of continental and global scale.
In turn, Chungwon Choue, head of the World Taekwondo Federation, noted that in recent years, WT taekwondo has developed actively in Uzbekistan. The number of talented athletes is increasing, and they are achieving strong results on the world stage, strengthening the country’s international standing.
