Commemorative coins marking the 35th Anniversary of Independence issued
The Central Bank of Uzbekistan released a special set of commemorative coins for the country’s 35th anniversary of independence.
The collection includes three coins that, within a cohesive artistic theme, represent Uzbekistan’s national identity, historical legacy, cultural values, and contemporary growth. Each coin showcases a unique design highlighting key symbols and principles from the independence period.
The first coin honors the Independence Monument, representing the people’s freedom, national pride, and sovereign nation. Sunlight rays shining from behind the monument symbolize the new opportunities independence brings and a hopeful future. The reverse side displays the State Flag of Uzbekistan along with its adoption date – November 18, 1991.
The second coin highlights Uzbekistan’s rich historical and spiritual legacy. Its front shows the Islamic Civilization Center in Tashkent, representing the country’s role in advancing global scholarship, spirituality, and Islamic civilization. The back displays the State Emblem of Uzbekistan along with the adoption date, July 2, 1992. Together, the design symbolizes state sovereignty, national unity, and a strong sense of nationhood.
The third coin showcases the number “35” as its main feature. Its sleek, modern design represents the ongoing legacy of independence and the transfer of historical responsibility to future generations. On the reverse, the line “Olamni mahliyo aylagan diyor!” (“A land that enchants the world!”) from the State Anthem of Uzbekistan is featured, along with the date December 10, 1992, when it was adopted. Traditional doppi (traditional Uzbek skullcap) motifs also highlight national identity.
The commemorative coins are made of 999.9 fine gold (Au) and silver (Ag). Each coin weighs 31.1 grams and has a face value of 100,000 UZS. They are available as a three-coin collector’s set or sold separately.
The initial mintage includes 450 gold and 800 silver commemorative coins. The total may be expanded if market demand rises.
The commemorative coins represent 35 years of Uzbekistan’s independence, blending themes of national statehood, historical remembrance, and modern progress. This collection is aimed at people passionate about the country’s history and culture, as well as collectors who appreciate unique items that symbolize the nation’s journey to independence.
The commemorative coins became available for purchase on August 27 at 690 bank branches.
