The potential of compatriots overseas to support New Uzbekistan’s development
In anticipation of the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence, the Uz Global Think Forum titled “Scientific and expert potential of compatriots abroad in the development of New Uzbekistan” took place in Tashkent, gathering compatriots from various countries worldwide.
Today, the forum’s main event was held, organized by the Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Interethnic Relations and Compatriots Abroad, along with the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Zakovat Intellectual Club, the Vatandoshlar Public Foundation, and the World Youth Association of Uzbekistan.
The forum brought together about 40 compatriots from 15 countries, all of whom have achieved notable success in fields such as science, education, economics, innovation, technology, culture, and others.
During the event, Qahramon Sariyev, Chairman of the Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Interethnic Relations and Compatriots Abroad, along with other participants, emphasized that Uzbekistan’s official policy towards compatriots abroad focuses on maintaining ongoing dialogue and strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties.
Cooperation includes implementing joint initiatives, supporting the preservation of national identity, and engaging diaspora resources in the country’s socio-economic growth.
During the forum, experts and academic representatives discussed key topics, including the country’s development, socio-economic progress, environmental sustainability, quality education, and modern public administration.
The forum also focused on priority tasks, such as bringing together scientists, experts, entrepreneurs, and specialists working internationally on a single platform for intellectual exchange.
Participants explored ways to leverage compatriots’ knowledge, experience, and networks to benefit the country. This includes encouraging investment, innovation, and technology transfer, as well as supporting initiatives that boost export capacity, generate new jobs, and promote socio-economic development across regions.
