Issues related to the development and implementation of joint projects in Bukhara discussed at the UNESCO Headquarters
Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO and the Art and Culture Development Foundation, met in France with Lazare Eloundou Assomo, Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, to discuss priority areas of cooperation for the preservation and effective management of World Heritage sites in Uzbekistan.
During the discussions, particular attention was given to the development and implementation of joint projects in Bukhara, including the restoration of the Poi Kalon architectural complex and the creation of an open-air archaeological museum within the Shahristan.
Particular attention was given to implementing measures to preserve Uzbekistan’s unique cultural heritage sites in accordance with the World Heritage Convention and international standards, while ensuring the sustainable development of historic cities.
At the meeting, an agreement was reached to strengthen cooperation and ensure the effective implementation of cultural heritage initiatives, reaffirming Uzbekistan’s commitment to preserving its cultural heritage in close cooperation with UNESCO.
