Baku hosts World Urban Forum
The 13th session of the World Urban Forum will take place today, May 18, in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will take part in and address the Leaders’ Summit of the forum session, held under the auspices of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme.
During the forum, issues of sustainable urban development, providing the population with affordable housing, improving the quality of the urban environment, climate resilience, and mechanisms for financing housing construction will be discussed.

According to the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, more than 1 billion people live in slums or informal settlements.
Anna Soave, Head of the Country Programme at UN-Habitat Azerbaijan, noted that housing construction is directly linked to the future of cities, climate resilience, socio-economic well-being, and the quality of life of the population.
The forum will bring together representatives of governments, business, and civil society, along with experts, to discuss practical solutions to pressing issues.
