Uzbekistan’s representatives attend the 153rd Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly
The 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), organized with support from the National Assembly of Tanzania (Bunge), is being held at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC).
More than 2,000 delegates from over 180 countries are participating in the event, which runs from October 5 to 9.
An official delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva, has arrived in Tanzania to participate in the session.
The Assembly is expected to admit new members to the Inter-Parliamentary Union. A key event of the session will be the election of a new President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Representatives from Azerbaijan, Australia, and Chile are running for the post.
The session will also include working group meetings and seminars focused on pressing global issues, including artificial intelligence, the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities, climate change, food security, and counterterrorism.
