Uzbekistan – Germany: Prospects for cooperation in the fruit crop genetics discussed
A meeting was held in Tashkent between representatives of the Research Institute of Plant Genetic Resources, part of the National Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture, and colleagues from the German scientific institution Julius Kühn-Institut.
The parties exchanged views on the conservation and study of fruit crop genetic resources, molecular genetic research, the development of joint scientific projects, and the expansion of international cooperation.
An agreement was reached to cooperate in these areas and jointly pursue promising scientific projects.

As part of the visit, the guests visited the Research Institute of Horticulture, Viticulture and Winemaking named after Academician M. Mirzayev, where they became familiar with the institution’s scientific activities.
Particular attention was paid to the institute’s modern laboratory facilities and ongoing research in plant breeding. Scientific developments aimed at preserving genetic resources and developing high-yielding, promising varieties received high praise.

Following the meeting, promising plans were outlined for biodiversity preservation, joint studies of wild crop species, and the expansion of scientific cooperation.
