Uzbekistan and Pakistan plan to broaden their collaboration in mining and geological sectors
The Minister of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bobur Islamov met with a delegation led by Dr. Muhammad Zahid Latif, Rector of the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) of Pakistan.
According to the Ministry, the parties discussed opportunities to combine the potential of the two countries in geology and the mining industry, as well as to expand cooperation in education and scientific research. Attention focused on establishing sectoral cooperation between the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology and NUST, identifying promising areas of collaboration, and implementing joint projects.
The meeting also focused on potential collaboration in education and science. Both sides discussed exchanging faculty, researchers, and industry experts between the University of Geological Sciences (UGS) and NUST, conducting joint research, sharing academic knowledge, and creating mutually advantageous educational programs.
The participants also considered proposals to support the activities of NUST’s specialized department at UGS and to enhance its capacity and capabilities.
Following the meeting, the importance of continuing cooperation to integrate education, science, and practical experience in geology and mining, expand joint projects on this basis, and improve the quality of specialist training was emphasized.
