Uzbekistan and New Zealand share experiences in deposit insurance

The Deposit Guarantee Agency of Uzbekistan held a videoconference with representatives of New Zealand’s Depositor Compensation Scheme (DCS), operated by the country’s Central Bank.

During the online meeting, DCS representatives shared details about the system’s operations, how compensation payments are made to depositors in guarantee cases, and how these processes are organized and managed.

The discussion focused on engaging the public, raising awareness of the deposit guarantee system and the organization’s activities, and fostering cooperation with stakeholders.

The representatives of the Deposit Guarantee Agency discussed the organization’s activities and shared practical insights. Specifically, they examined a real guarantee case from early 2026 involving the revocation of a banking license from a certain bank.

Additionally, the participants were informed about the survey results conducted among the population and the Agency’s strategies to enhance citizens’ financial and information awareness. The discussion also covered developing a communication strategy and ways to further improve the investor information system.

Following the meeting, the parties acknowledged the value and practical importance of sharing deposit insurance experiences. They also expressed their intention to maintain and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
