Uzbekistan and Belarus local representative bodies sign 15 agreements on interregional cooperation

A meeting of the heads of the local representative bodies of Uzbekistan and Belarus was held in Khiva as part of the Fourth Uzbekistan – Belarus Interparliamentary Forum, titled “Strategic partnership: advancing interparliamentary dialogue, new areas of cooperation and prospects”.

The participants discussed expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and Belarus, strengthening direct ties between local representative bodies, and advancing new initiatives that serve the regions’interests.

Particular attention was paid to the role of local representative bodies in the socio-economic development of the regions. The participants exchanged views on establishing open, effective dialogue with the public, expanding citizens’ participation in public affairs and governance, supporting local initiatives, and developing practical solutions to regional challenges.

The participants also addressed ways to use the regions’ economic and social potential, stimulate entrepreneurship and investment, develop new areas of economic cooperation, and implement mutually beneficial projects.

Following the meeting, the local representative bodies of Uzbekistan and Belarus signed 15 bilateral agreements to expand interregional cooperation.
