The partnership between Uzbekistan and Bulgaria in the information sector is becoming stronger
A meeting was held in Sofia between Abdusaid Kuchimov, Director General of Uzbekistan National News Agency, and Gabriela Naplatanova, Chair of Bulgaria’s Council for Electronic Media (CEM).
During the meeting, the parties noted that the complex relations between our countries are evolving to a new stage, with modern media playing a key role in strengthening these connections.
During the dialogue, the parties also discussed in detail global changes in the information space, joint efforts to combat fake news, and the establishment of objective and prompt information exchange. In particular, the need to intensify the exchange of experience among media representatives covering important events in our countries’ lives was emphasized.
The UzA Director General stated, “In today’s fast-paced information age, the media plays an even greater role in strengthening friendship and cooperation between our countries”. He added that sharing objective, reliable, and timely information not only enhances the media industry but also helps communicate the economic and cultural connections between our nations to a broader audience.
Gabriela Naplatanova also highlighted the significance of cooperation within the media sector and stressed essential points regarding the regulation of the contemporary information environment.
The CEM Chair stated that the growing relations between Bulgaria and Uzbekistan are creating new opportunities in the media sector. She emphasized that the information space now transcends borders, making it crucial to adhere to professional journalistic standards and deliver verified, trustworthy information to the public. Bulgaria’s Council for Electronic Media is eager to share its expertise with top media organizations in Uzbekistan, encourage dialogue among professionals, and support collaborative projects.
The discussions took place in a constructive and friendly environment. Participants included Simona Veleva, Kadrinka Kadrinova from CEM, and Julia Sokolova, Secretary General of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA). After the meeting, they agreed to strengthen media collaboration, increase mutual exchange of expertise, and steadily develop the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Bulgaria in the information sector.
Bulgaria’s Council for Electronic Media (CEM) is an independent state body that regulates radio and television activities in the country. The Council monitors the protection of freedom of speech and information, the promotion of media pluralism, and the protection of consumers, especially children, from the harmful effects of media products, in accordance with national legislation and European Union standards.
