The initiatives announced in Samarkand aim to enhance global cooperation
Samarkand hosts the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan. The holding of the international forum in Uzbekistan is a high recognition of the country's achievements in developing national parliamentarism and implementing youth policy.
Shahnoza Kholmahamatova, Deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, expressed her view on the importance of the event:
– Ancient and eternally young Samarkand hosts a conference of young parliamentarians. It is a great honor and responsibility to participate in such an authoritative forum.
The conference titled “Reclaiming human rights, justice and dignity for all in turbulent times” gathered young MPs, parliamentary leaders, and representatives from international organizations worldwide. This highlights Samarkand’s role as a major hub for global diplomacy and dialogue.
In the address of the Head of State to the participants, it was emphasized that in conditions of geopolitical instability, the elevation of human dignity and the pursuit of peace and justice remain a priority. Constructive dialogue, mutual trust, and partnership are called the main values of our time.
The main message of the address is a call to involve young people as full participants in decision–making processes. This principle aligns with the priorities of Uzbekistan’s state policy. The Youth Parliament is functioning successfully under the Oliy Majlis, and a Youth Commission has been established in the Legislative Chamber. Systematic efforts are underway to expand young citizens’ participation in lawmaking, parliamentary oversight, and public administration.
The President’s address also emphasized the need for responsible implementation of artificial intelligence and digital technologies, as well as joint solutions to global problems such as climate change, poverty, and social inequality through interparliamentary mechanisms.
The initiatives discussed in Samarkand focus on promoting international youth collaboration and supporting sustainable development.
