Senate Chairperson outlines three priority areas
The 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians continues in Samarkand.
At the event, it was emphasized that Uzbekistan’s population has reached nearly 39 million, with more than half under the age of 30.
These figures clearly show that, in Uzbekistan, youth is more than just a demographic statistic. It is a key strategic element influencing national progress.
As Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbayeva noted at the conference, under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, state youth policy has moved beyond being a separate area and has become an integral part of the large-scale reforms being implemented in the country.
“The most important thing is that this policy is reflected not only in documents”, Tanzila Narbayeva said. “Across all areas – from education to employment, from entrepreneurship to social protection, from digital transformation to cultural development – the aspirations and future of young people are becoming a priority. Notably, the number of young people studying at higher education institutions has exceeded 3.5 million, and the number of young scientists holding academic degrees has doubled. The fact that the share of young people among entrepreneurs has reached 35 percent indicates that the new generation is gradually becoming an important driving force behind our country’s economic development”.
The Senate Chairperson outlined three priority areas. In particular, specific proposals were put forward to transform young people from policy objects into co-authors of decisions, establish clear mechanisms to protect their rights, and turn those rights into real opportunities.
At the event, it was emphasized that the Inter-Parliamentary Union serves as a unique international platform that brings together parliaments with different political systems around common goals. Confidence was expressed that the ideas put forward would find practical application both in the organization’s activities and in the work of national parliaments.
